dataland

dataland is the world's first museum of AI arts, open in downtown Los Angeles since June 2026. Refik Anadol and Efsun Erkılıç built it around the Large Nature Model, an AI trained only on nature data gathered with permission.

Notes

The page runs on near-black, with warm orange held back for the two buttons that sell something — tickets and memberships — so the commerce is the only heat on an otherwise cold screen. Body text sits in one narrow measure well left of centre, three short paragraphs surrounded by an unusual amount of empty dark field, which slows the reading to something close to gallery pace. Between hero and body a hairline strip carries the practical facts in small monospace: exhibition, address, days open. The full-bleed video still, electric blue against all that black, is the only image on the page, and it does the work an object would do in a lobby.
