IceOutDates keeps the year-by-year record of the day spring ice lets go on 1,064 northern lakes, for the people who plan a season around it. It estimates nothing — a lake needs five documented years before it gets a page, and the longest record, Sebago Lake, runs back to 1807.
FootingDepth works out how deep a deck footing or fence post has to sit in a given US state, and how much concrete the hole takes. Every depth cites the code section it comes from, and the site insists the state figure is only a starting number until a local building department confirms it.
