Discovery Loop

Discovery Loop is a public benefit corporation founded to automate the experimental loop of science and engineering. Jeff Dean left Google after 27 years to run it, and the plan is to be its own first customer — automating machine learning research before any other field.

Notes

The page reads more like a printed memorandum than a startup launch: warm parchment ground, a wide-tracked serif wordmark whose double O resolves into a loop, and four sections numbered 01–04 in tiny letterspaced caps. Display headings in old-style serif sit left, explanatory prose in a small sans column to the right, so the claim and its supporting detail never compete for the same line. Lavender is rationed — an italic ‘bottlenecked’ in the opening spread, then the careers button at the very end — and the ground goes near-black only for the closing section. One group portrait of the four founders, captioned left-to-right in the magazine manner, does all the visual work.
