Daydream

Daydream is a chat-based fashion shopping agent: describe an occasion in plain words and it returns in-stock pieces from over 10,000 brands. Julie Bornstein, who launched Nordstrom.com and was COO of Stitch Fix, built it with no ads and no inventory — it earns a commission only when something sells.

Notes

The page is built around a single chat field floating on warm off-white, a serif display line above it and a scatter of sample prompts below — “Vintage-inspired floral gown”, “Black silk shirt for work” — that teach the interaction without a word of instruction. Everything beneath behaves like a fashion magazine: letterspaced small-caps eyebrows over serif headings, category tiles in terracotta, mustard, navy and forest green, and horizontal rails of cut-out product shots with brand and price set very small. The 10,000 partner names sit in a pale, almost illegible grid near the bottom, which is the right amount of volume to show without shouting.
